Taos Cow, Arroyo Seco, NM

Back in June, I was on the hunt for ice cream in Taos. The top pick was Taos Cow – but their website said they were currently closed. Thankfully on a return trip, I found them set up in their parking lot, serving out of a little food truck situation.

There’s a cool vibe in this part of the greater Taos area. I’d love to return for a longer visit.

Due to their parking lot setup, they couldn’t do samples (dishes would be tough), but they were willing to combine two flavors into a single ($5, or $6 to combine).

Nevertheless, I had a strong hunch it would be worth it, so I went with a double for $7, and I was glad I did. (Kind of pricey, but it’s the only one of its kind in a very touristy area, and portions were big, so what the heck?) Tax is included and it was cash only. (Always be prepared with cash!)

They were super friendly and helpful. Here’s what I got:Taos Cow, Taos, NM | In Search of a Scoop

Piñon Caramel – The nuts are awesome, the giant caramel chunks are melty and delicious. So impressive! The base had a touch of iciness rather than being super creamy…kind of a milkiness, and maybe vanilla? I was digging the flavor combination.

Mexican Chocolate – Well, this is what it sounds like! It’s got delicious and excellent rich, darker chocolate chunks, and it’s super smooth. I’d love a bit more kick, but this is really tasty and an amazing smooth ice cream. It might be a top five contender!

They had seven flavors while I was there, and most were a little off the beaten path. It’s an especially fun place for more adventurous ice cream eaters. Taos Cow, Taos, NM | In Search of a Scoop

I’m so thankful I got to try Taos Cow. I hope they get things figured out soon with their location. It was delicious ice cream and excellent service, and I hope to return someday!

Need another awesome Taos treat? Don’t miss Chokola!
