Fresh is an adorable place for ice cream in the Raleigh area. The location I visited is a really cute ice cream stand, with some seating and cornhole out back for when the weather is nice.
It’s in a strip mall complex, so parking is plentiful.
The employee who served me wasn’t overly friendly, but she was very accommodating, letting me get two flavors with a small and try whatever I asked for. The prices were reasonable, without an obvious hike due to being in a city.
I was happy to see they offer four to go flavors in a flight for $13.49, and they offer sundae kits for parties.
I was surprised by the lack of gluten-free flavors, but those I could have were clearly labeled on the menu – it’s the first time I’ve ever seen that! It made me really happy, and frankly it helps to make up for less than warm service.
Here’s what I tried:

Spiced eggnog and Dutch chocolate were divine!
Salted Caramel Brownie – I didn’t get the brownie in my bite, but the caramel wasn’t my favorite flavor. It had a nice consistency though.
Spiced Eggnog – This was so good! It tastes just like an eggnog with nutmeg and maybe some rum. It’s a delicious flavor, quite creamy. A real winner. I’ve never had better eggnog ice cream!
Dutch Chocolate – Wow, this was perfect. Smooth, creamy and the perfect level of richness for Dutch.
I highly recommend Fresh for locally made, super tasty ice cream. It’s not a sit down, super friendly situation, but if local ice cream is your focus, it’s hard to beat!
